St. Mark's Sunday School
Jesus Place
. . . where I can grow to be like Him.
Sunday School at St. Mark's Lutheran Church is known as Jesus' Place! We believe it is just the place God wants for His children here at St. Mark's! Each classroom has a theme: I can share . . . just like Jesus, I can serve . . . just like Jesus, I can care . . . just like Jesus, I can pray . . . just like Jesus, and I can worship . . . just like Jesus.
Jesus' Place begins at 9:30 AM with all of us together in the large room downstairs. It's a fun way to begin our morning. We enjoy singing, having puppet visitors, or learning about other things going on. Then it's off to class with our staff of wonderful teachers.
Often we hear from parents that their children can't wait to get to Jesus' Place, so we begin when we have a handful of children to sing with - usually between 9:15 and 9:20. Our teens are the Jesus' Place Music Team, and they lead the singing. It is a great time of energy, fun and love all rolled into one.
At approximately 9:45 the children go into their classes, where they have interactive lessons with their very enthusiastic teachers. A great time is had by all on Sunday mornings at Jesus' Place!
For the very little ones (under 3) we have Jesus' Place Extra Small upstairs in the nursery. This is provided so that parents can enjoy a time of fellowship and learning in The Berean Cafe (adult education) or attend worship, and know that their youngest ones are happily engaged as well.
This winter we will have Bible Bowl again. This is a unique program that emphasizes Scripture memory. It includes recitation time, singing, a lesson, and a game each week. It's a great way to perk up a long winter and to hide God's word in our hearts.
