The church sign reads "Thank God for VE Day/ Pray God for A Speedy VJ Day/ Pentecost Festival Sunday at 10".

Historical Note: VE Day was May 7/8, 1945, and in 1945, Pentecost was May 20. Therefore, this photo must have been taken sometime between May 14 and May 20, 1945. Rev. Burgdorf was Pastor of St. Mark's at this time.

This church still exists today just one block West of St. Mark's on Walnut Avenue.
