Reverend Herbert A. Reischauer

The Reverend Herbert A. Reischauer is a native of Tulare, South Dakota, where he was born in the parsonage of a missionary on May 19, 1899. He received his elementary training in the Day School of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Olmstead, Illinois. High school and junior college work was completed in New York, Ministerial training was received at Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Illinois, graduating from the institution in 1928. In 1928 Pastor Reischauer was united in marriage to Miss Anna G. Woidke, of Cleveland, Ohio, This union was blessed with two children, Lois Ann 16, a senior at high school next fall, and Ronald, 25, who is planning on coming to St. Charles later. The pastor-elect comes to St. Mark's from Our Savior Lutheran in Flint, Michigan, which congregation he served faithfully for 21 years. Prior to that time he served Trinity Lutheran, Arcadia, Michigan, for six years.
Note: According to his daughter, Mrs. Lois Prahlow: Pastor Reischauer passed away on October 26, 1979 at the age of 80, and his wife, Anna, passed away in 2002 at the age of 99, both of Valparaiso, Indiana. Both were members of Immanual Lutheran Chruch, Valparaiso http://www.immanuelvalpo.org/
