Revrend James N. Hughes, II

James N. Hughes, II, 29, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James N. Hughes, Addison, Illinois, and one of two sons. He was graduated from St. Pauls Lutheran School, Addison, in 1962. He attended Walther Lutheran High School, Melrose Park, Illinois, and was graduated in 1966. From 1966-1969, he attended St. John's College, Winfield, Kansas, and was graduated in 1969 with the degree Associate of Arts. He entered Concordia Senior College, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, majoring in Social Psychology and was graduated with the degree Bachelor of Arts, 1971.

From March to May, 1972, The Reverend Mr. Hughes was a Clinical Pastoral Education Student Chaplain at St. Louis County Hospital's in-patient psychiatric unit and day hospital. He was retained as Chaplain during the summer, through a Federal grant. He was Vicar to The Rev. Fred W. Balke, Livonia, Michigan 1972-73. He returned to complete the last year of theological education at Concordia Seminary In Exile, and was graduated with the degree Master of Divinity under the Joint Project for Theological Education, 1975.

In May, 1976, Pastor Hughes was contracted for one year by Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota, as Pastoral Assistant to The Reverend F. E. Geske. The contract was extended to the month prior to the retirement of Pastor Geske, Dec. 31, 1977.

He is a certified Youth Effectiveness Training Instructor, a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and has been active-in Emergency Room chaplaincy in Minneapolis. In May, 1977, Mr. Hughes married Debra L. Hobson of Prior Lake, Minnesota. The Hughes reside at 834 Eastside Drive, Geneva.
