Translation from the German. Minutes of the first congregational meeting of the Evang. Luth. St. Mark's Church, Jan. 27. 1907 in St. Charles, Ill. On the above date a small group of Lutherans met in the home of the Heinz brothers with the purpose to constitute a congregation. Pastor Miessler opened the meeting with prayer. Mr. R. Heinz served as secretary. At the outset the constitution was read as prepared by Pastor Miessler. Each paragraph was discussed and unanimously accepted. A general agreement was reached as to the name of the congregation, namely: Ev. Luth. St. Mark's Congregation, U. A. C., Charles, Kane Co., Illinois. The following gentlemen signed the constitution: R. Heinz etc,. following, an election of officers was held. Elected as elders were Ed. Nagel, R. Heinz and Fr. Woith. It was decided that all officers of the congregation are to serve for one ( 1 ) year. However, one of the elders is to be re-elected for another term. E. Heinz was elected treasurer and H.A. Eichmann secretary. The following resolutions were passed: 1. To petition Pastor Miessler to secure the neceseary church books, namely: Bible, church book and 1/2 half of a dozen congregational hymnals. 2. To schedule a congregational meeting each quarter of a calendar year. 3. That the pastor will provide wine and host for Holy Communion. The collection at the church door following the celebration of Holy Communion shall he turned over to the pastor. 4. That the respective treasurer is to submit a complete report of the treasury at the yearly ( January ) congregational meeting. This report is to be audited by the board of elders and the pastor. 5. That the pastor is to receive as reimbursement for his services a salary of $ 10.- per month and additionally $ 5.- year1y carfare. 6. That the newly elected officers will be installed during the course of a service. The meeting was adjeurned with reciting the Lord's Prayer "Our Father".
